Talk:Creating Radio Stations
Can this article please be completed, I really want to create my own radio station. Thanks --Oblivious12123 17:02, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I'm trying to create my own radio station. I created a very simple station with only the RadioHello topic, with two randomly-selected responses which both play the same sound. The station actually works fine, but if I pause and come back, the radio station is still playing in the pipboy, but the audio doesn't work unless I turn off and on the station. After that point there's some weird behavior, like funky sounds anytime I turn the station off. Has anyone had this issue? Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? - Hi Gethsemane,
- Are you just trying to get the station to only play a single sound? Because there are easier ways to do that and you don't even need to make a quest. Open the properties of your TalkingActivator and select a 'Looping sound'. If you want to mess with the Radio topics you will need to add the topic 'RadioGoodbye', and make your 'RadioHello' items 'Link To' 'RadioGoodbye' Charm 04:09, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Incomplete
Specifically, how can how does the Voice Type connect to the audio files? What does the quest script do? Why do you have to set Cont. Broadcast - does it make it play 24/7, over every cell?

Merge
This page seems like a combination of the Category:Radio Stations and very basic modding practices. It even links back to the category page in the second step. It doesn't seem to benefit from being a separate page.
On modding practices - I think we can assume the modder knows by the time they look at this page how to create basic objects and how they like to handle object names. There's no need to rehash these topics on this page (otherwise, we'd need to rehash them on every page).
I'd do it myself, but I don't have a computer that can run Geck (working on that) and Beth's setup is really confusing. Do you have to create a Talking Activator in the Actor tab, and then go to the Activator tab and drop that activator into the world, or the actor, or are they the same?

- I vote that we take both and put them in a Radio Stations page and drop the Category altogether.

- Haama: You make a Talking Activator in the Actor tab, and then drop that into the world. Make sure to set the broadcast range under "Radio Data" in the activator's info dialog, and to set GetIsID in your radio station quest to the talking activator you created.
- I disagree with the earlier post on modding practices, because those aspects of this page helped me out enormously, and I think it's a bit silly to assume that everyone looking at this page has prior modding experience, especially since the 'Help' menu button in the G.E.C.K. links to this wiki.
