Bylines

This article was created with a byline (as in, the article says "so and so wrote this"). That is against the rules for this Wiki as well as the Oblivion's CS Wiki. Furthermore, I don't think it's appropriate to be asking to be given credit by people using this guide. Helping people is not about popularity or advertising after all.

I imagine the bylines will be removed, but I'll let the more important people on the wiki do is as to not be presumptuous.

Illyism has uploaded Veli_V's work; with or without permission, I do not know, but either way, we need Veli_V to respond here regarding his wishes for the article.

Technically, all content submitted to the Wiki is released to the Wiki, but in practice we request that authors of bylined articles remove the bylines themselves, so we are certain that the appropriate permissions are ascertained. If there has been a mistake and the author did not realize this rule (or did not upload it himself, as in this case), we give the author the option of deleting the article from the Wiki by replacing its content with {{afd}}. While it is a shame to lose such a good article, the Wiki serves the community, and the community is not well served by 'stealing' others' work, even when we are technically within our rights to do as we like with the content.

Illyism, please read the rules before uploading material. If you have uploaded Veli_V's work without permission, you have broken one of the most important rules of this site. Please familiarize yourself with the rules before submitting anything else - you may ask me any questions that you have.

Veli_V, it would be appreciated if you could give input on this article - as stated, it cannot stay here if bylined. If you are comfortable with releasing it to the community, please state so here and/or remove the bylines yourself. If not, please state so here and/or replace it with {{afd}}. Thank you.

1st of all, Illyism is free of doing whatever he wishes with my tutorial as far as I am concerned. Second, I understand your byline rule. Therefore, I asked illyism to remove the article from the GECK wiki. Its for you to decide whether leave the link there to the tutorial or not.

The main reason for this is that it is easier for me to keep the tutorial updated in a one place. After that, comes the fact that our Project Valhalla needs publicity in order to be successful. In my honest opinnion, there is nothing wrong in asking credit for the hard work. But I understand that things like bylines will only clutter this wiki and make it useless for the normal users. --Veli 20:48, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I have no objection to your seeking credit - that is quite understandable. It just causes problems for our Wiki if there are bylines here. Linking to your tutorial is quite acceptable, and we'll try to come up with a better way to do that.
